With 3.5 billion searches a day on Google up for grabs an effective SEO strategy needs to be the foundation upon which any growth strategy is built. Submit a sitemap to the search engines…it can 10X the number of your pages that they index. Sites like xml sitemaps will crawl your site to generate the sitemap for free and then you just need to get it uploaded to your web server’s root directory. WordPress plugins can also take care of it for you. Use the Google Search Console to tell Google you have uploaded a new sitemap.
Use freemium session replay tools like Mouseflow to see exactly how visitors really use your site/app…you will be able to improve conversion significantly. Otherwise you will waste a lot of time and money and never get to SERP #1 or #2 (see Growth Hack #2)…give us a shout we have created a tool that will analyse and create the visualisations you need to help you create the optimum strategy for your market.
Testing by ourselves and others proves beyond doubt that THE most effective visual cue to generate engagement is an image of a female face. This is true for both males and females. With 20 milliseconds to create engagement (see Growth Hack 5 WIIIFM) using a female face above the fold on your home page will have a statistically significant effect on engagement and conversion.
If you are using Google Ads make sure you bear in mind that the Google Ads system is designed and optimised to maximise your SPEND not your RETURN ON INVESTMENT. For anything other than products | services with universal appeal do not use the Display Network or Broad match. Make sure you use the Search network with Exact Match [square brackets like this] around your terms. Otherwise your target phrase will be “matched” with multiple tangential and budget destroying search terms see PPC Services.
There is no need to reinvent the wheel…structure your eCommerce site to be like Amazon if you want to increase conversion. It may not be the most visually attractive design on the web but people are familiar with it and it works. One eCommerce company doubled revenue by standardising on an Amazon design paradigm (three column, prominent reviews, use of colour, images, secondary trust signals, prominent CTA…). Some pages achieved a doubling of conversion rate by using an “Amazon Orange” CTA button (HEX #FF9900 RGB 255/153/0).
If you type “interim cdo” into google.co.uk you will probably see the result below with questions and answers added with a drop down below our listing.
